Topic: Control Panel without wifi

Hello,
I just received my Chumby...I'm at work without any wifi networks...then I know it won't work so much big_smile
But is it normal that the pressure on the control panel button does not create any display on the screen?
It displays for the moment the time, the day and "touch the screen to connect to the network"...
Is it normal that the button "doesn't work" ?

Re: Control Panel without wifi

Yes, at the moment, there's no really usable Control Panel when offline.

We're laying out a plan to make the device more functional offline, so this will eventually change.

Re: Control Panel without wifi

It would be cool to have something similar to the profile.xml for offline-use. If the chumby is not connected, it could check for a file called offline-profile.xml or something like that and if it is found, set it as current channel. This way, I just need to put my favorite widgets (that don't need internet) on an usb-device, add the offline-profile.xml and the current version of the control panel and can use it without wifi.

That should be possible with minimal changes and would have a big effect for people without permanent wifi.
