Topic: I heart radio is missing from the list
This is an Infocast 3.5. Two of them.
Today I notice I Heart Radio is missing from the list.
It's been there right below Pandora which I use daily, but not there now.

Today I notice I Heart Radio is missing from the list.

Please reboot and see if it comes back. There have not been any recent server changes.
I rebooted before I posted.
I just looked again, it's not on the list.
I am going to reboot this unit, I had rebooted another one. But the I Heart is not on either unit.
I just rebooted again. Still not there.
I have had some occurances of the iHeart going away but it usually comes back. Haven't figured out why it does that. Sometimes rebooting helps but sometimes just takes time to come back.
It's still missing. I can't see why waiting and it will come back makes sense.
We're talking about digital computer stuff, right?
It ought to be exactly the same all the time.
I rebooted a couple times, no difference.
What do you get when you hit the URL: http://music.chumby.com/music_sources/show?hw=7.0
This is the server telling the device which music sources are valid for that device (Infocast 3.5 is hardware 7.0)
You should get something like:
<MusicSources>
<Music can_next="true" alarm_panel="http://music.chumby.com/falconwing-pandora_alarm_panel-2.15.swf" can_prev="false" can_alarm="true" label="Pandora Radio" can_resume="true" player="http://music.chumby.com/falconwing-pandora_player-2.15.swf" id="pandora" can_pause="true" panel="http://music.chumby.com/falconwing-pandora_panel-2.15.swf" ver="2.15" position="0"/>
<Music can_next="false" alarm_panel="http://music.chumby.com/" can_prev="false" can_alarm="false" label="iheartradio" can_resume="true" player="http://music.chumby.com/falconwing-ihr_player.swf" id="iheartradio" can_pause="false" panel="http://music.chumby.com/falconwing-ihr_panel.swf" ver="18653" position="1"/>
</MusicSources>
<MusicSources><Music can_next="true" alarm_panel="http://music.chumby.com/falconwing-pandora_alarm_panel-2.15.swf" can_prev="false" can_alarm="true" label="Pandora Radio" can_resume="true" player="http://music.chumby.com/falconwing-pandora_player-2.15.swf" id="pandora" can_pause="true" panel="http://music.chumby.com/falconwing-pandora_panel-2.15.swf" ver="2.15" position="0"/><Music can_next="false" alarm_panel="http://music.chumby.com/" can_prev="false" can_alarm="false" label="iheartradio" can_resume="true" player="http://music.chumby.com/falconwing-ihr_player.swf" id="iheartradio" can_pause="false" panel="http://music.chumby.com/falconwing-ihr_panel.swf" ver="18653" position="1"/></MusicSources>
That's with a web browser, of course. That's what you meant?
OK, well that confirms that the server is sending sufficient information to bring up the iheartradio music source, so now we need to see if it's getting the actual files for the functionality:
http://music.chumby.com/falconwing-ihr_player.swf
...should bring up a solid white full-page Flash movie.
http://music.chumby.com/falconwing-ihr_panel.swf
...should bring up a solid dark gray full-page Flash movie.
Those do, with slightly different context menus. But both flash.
OK, so that means that whatever's causing it to not show up on the list is happening in the device somehow. The server is apparently doing everything correctly.
Do you have anything like the "/psp/music_order" fie on your devices?
Another possibility is that iheartradio thinks your IP is outside the United States.
Ah, that's it - your IP maps to Canada, not the US.
I'll see if there's a way to correct that.
That's very interesting, this is an Arizona Cable TV firm.
Though they have just handed out new IPs recently, I did notice the changed IP.
It was 24.x.x.x before the change.
07/07/16 23:32:31 dns 47.216.40.108
nslookup 47.216.40.108
Canonical name: 47-216-40-108.lkhvcmtk02.res.dyn.suddenlink.net
Addresses:
47.216.40.108
Oh, that's funny, the SWIP does show Canada.
47.216.40.108
I'll ask my ISP about that.
I requested the GEO information be addressed.
I was able to play a stream from I Heart Radio's website.
This is odd. Is this only a Chumby problem?
Is Chumby by any chance using a geo provider internally?
I looked that IP up in
https://www.iplocation.net/
Which queries multiple GEO providers.
Only one returned Canada, and it appears the information in ARIN is correct.
I asked that be corrected, but I assume it will be corrected shortly in any case.
The database that seems wrong is dated 6/22/16, a few weeks old.
This is actually kind of fun troubleshooting. From my old Spam Analyst days. Hah.
Chumby is using a geoIP database from a few years ago, I'll see if I can get an updated version and reseed the database, or at least manually update the record for your range.
The enforcement of location of the IHR music source was something explicit in the contract with ClearChannel. If they choose to do something different on their own site or applications, that's up to them, but we're bound by the contract.
Yeah, they may no longer care.
This ISP was just bought out by Altice of France, so they may have moved their range to where they needed it.
OK, I've updated the record - please reboot and see if it works.
It's back, and I did not reboot. Just like nothing happened.
That was interesting. I had fun.
Cheap thrills, huh?
Classica station doesn't seem to work for me. That would be a clear channel problem
