Topic: power usb port on/off from flash widget

I would like to controll a small motor with the chumby.
Is it possible for a flash widget to switch the usb port on and off ?
say for example as long as i press a button the motor is running (gets power through the usb).

thankfull for any kind of help in that direction.

Re: power usb port on/off from flash widget

I believe the USB +5V line is hooked directly to the power supply, so you'd only be able to manipulate the data portion of the port and not the power portion.

If you've got a chumby One, you might be able to use a Phidgets controller to do what you want to do.  I haven't verified they work, but support ought to be enabled.

thanks for the tip.
i might have a look at the phidget controller.
alternatively i guess i'll hook it up with an arduino.
