Topic: Ubuntu on Chumby?

I'm new to programming software for the chumby, and I was wondering if it's possible to burn a copy of ubuntu 10.04 to a micro sd and having my chumby one run ubuntu.  I understand that some features of ubuntu will not be supported on the chumby one or I will need to modify them for the touchscreen to work.  I found this link: http://www.openminddev.net/projects/wik … version=15  for Debian on a chumby classic, and I'm wondering if it's possible to do this with Ubuntu.

Thanks for your help!

Re: Ubuntu on Chumby?

I think the biggest constraint is the limited RAM available.  The Chumby 8 has 128MB of memory
which is the bare minimum recommended for running the server version of Ubuntu.  If you want
to run the desktop version of 10.04, the realistic recommendation is to use at least 512MB of RAM
(using Gnome or KDE on X11).  You might want to consider a different window manager (e.g. icewm)
since memory is limited.  I don't know of an easy way to expand the RAM in a Chumby.
Good luck.
