Topic: Help trying to make an Infocast 'accessible' to thru flite and brltty

I'm trying to make an Infocast accessible to the blind/low vision community by using the open-source flite speech-to-text and send screen text to a braille display connected by USB.

Has anyone been successful getting flite to work on an Infocast?

I've tried the Talking Clock compiled code, and running from ssh command line
/mnt/storage/psp/usr/bin/flite_time "02:23"     the program displays the text that would have been spoken, then the error message:

audio_open_alsa: failed to set sample rate near 16000. Invalid argument.

...Same error with flite_cmu_us_kal16

Has anyone gotten the Infocast to talk?

For the braille display on the Infocast's USB port, has anyone been successful sending data out of an Infocast (Chumby) to a USB device?
A forum search hasn't turned up any clues.
