Topic: chumby software on non-chumby hardware

is it possible to run the chumby software on a non-chumby piece of hardware? I'm asking because I've inherited an old PDA that can run linux (either Opie or GPE) and was wondering if the core chumby software could run on it.

I'm looking to hack my own chumby together until the real one is released tongue

Re: chumby software on non-chumby hardware

Well, all of the source code is open except for the Flash Player, and you can find the source code here.

There are several patches in the code that apply to our particular processor (Freescale iMX21) and chipsets, as well as the chumby-specific hardware, but those could be repatched to meet your needs.

The Flash Lite player is licensed from Adobe for use *only* on the chumby device, so you'd have to obtain a separate license from them.  It would not be legal to run the player on another device.
