Topic: ITC Ruling on Freescale Part

Does the ITC ruling (which effects the Freescale MC94MX21DVKN3) effect the availability of the Chumby in the US?

Or  since it is assembled outside of the US it doesn't directly apply? (still, Freeescale cannot import or export the device to/from the US)

Will this push the next generation of the Chumby?

Re: ITC Ruling on Freescale Part

Without getting into details, we do not believe this ruling should affect us in any way.

Re: ITC Ruling on Freescale Part

It does affect the availability of the raw part in the US. Freescale is not allowed to ship the part to any customer inside the US. For example, we can no longer obtain parts from Freescale for our high-value R&D prototyping operations that we like to do here in the US.

However, Freescale is still allowed to ship parts from their packaging facilities in Taiwan, Philippines, Korea, and Malaysia to our factories in China. Once in China, they are now our parts, not Freescale's parts, and to the best of my knowledge restrictions no longer apply.

I'm currently in China.

Isn't that a brilliant irony?
