Topic: Programmatic pinning
Would there be a way to allow a widget to pin itself (through user interaction or not)?
Or perhaps to have it extend its view for another NNN seconds?
I have a widget that could use this.

Mmm...slippery slope.
If an advertising widget had this capability, I don't think any of us would be happy. :-)

Precisely - we quite often get requests from developers for some way to make it so their widget stays indefinitely, because, well, their widget is Just That Important and there's obviously no reason why anyone would want to run anything else.
We've consistently resisted these requests and put this control squarely in hands of the user - if the *user* thinks the widget is something they want to run forever, they have at least three ways to do it - the "stay" button, picking "forever" in the customization dialog, and putting the widget alone in a channel.
