Topic: Chumby Classic broken after voltage reversal
Hi !
Since my old power supply does not work anymore, i found a new one with the same characteristics. I plugged it in and nothing happens but a short blinking of the LCD. After pressing the Power button, i saw the smoke an i reallised i coult have the wrong polarity. And thats what went wrong, the new power supply had the reverse polarity.
So what i managed to see/mesuare,is that the clamping diode D10 is burned, so i desoldered it. But i cant get the chumby to run. The LCD stays dark. The current drain indicates that at least something is running:
When i switch power on it is about 400mA after a few seconds it drops to 240mA. When i push the power butten it drops to 50mA and when i push it again it rises up tu 240mA again.
Is there any schematic for the Chumby classic, or does anyone know if/what precourcens are made for a voltage reversal?
Could another diode be broken?
Thanks for any help
