Topic: How much strain can the chumby processor take?

How much strain can I put on my chumby without hurting it?

I've currently got it attached to a 250gb external hard disk and am running a server with several static html pages and some javascript.  I'll probably be adding java applets and PHP soon.

a couple days ago, my friend reported that chumball seemed to have a slight lag.  Is this a sign that I am overworking my chumby?  if it is, what would be the consequences of adding more work to the chumby's workload?

Re: How much strain can the chumby processor take?

To find out the processor load, just ssh into the device and issue a "top" command - this will sort the processes by load and update at regular intervals (use Ctrl-C to stop it). You'll also see how much memory is used by each service.

You won't "hurt" your chumby by making it do a lot of stuff, if you mean causing hardware damage (unless you're drawing too much power over USB, for instance) - it's possible however, that you'll see some reduced responsiveness if it's being asked to do too many things at once.
