If you haven't seen this yet, check out the new video player from Avot Media. It allows full search of sites like YouTube, DailyMotion, MySpace and others, and it works great! Video on the chumby just got way more interesting. Thanks Avot.

now that the initial rush of being able to search for and play videos of my choosing has worn off and I've had time to use the widget a bit, there are a couple bugs - one pretty major - that I've noted in the comments. Still, this is great indicator of how interesting things to come will be.
Well, looks like a killer widget. Interface is great. Search works fine. Only problem is, I can't get it to play any videos from Youtube at the moment. Just get a black screen. Any suggestions?

With the launch of Hulu last week, I was hoping it would be added to this widget! It seems it's a Flash based video...
Hulu may require a higher version of Flash video than the Chumby is capable of. (it's website says Flash 9 required)
Does anyone else have trouble with the video & audio getting out of sync then jumping frames to catch up ot the audio track? Is there anything I can do to fix this?

so in the case of the chumby, would this be a limitation of the hardware's processing power, or of the currently used version of Flash Lite?
Mainly the processor, however, we've spent some time recently optimizing the software. In the future we should be able to play a larger subset of the Flash Video out there as we release new firmware, but we'll never be able to play as much as a desktop machine with this device.
Most devices in this class have dedicated video playback hardware - the iPhone, for instance, has a hardware H.264 decoder, and a special relationship with YouTube for content specifically encoded for their device.
Thanks for the info. That makes sense. I was worried it was something wrong with my Chumby or the way I set it up. Glad to know it's not me!
So guess we'll never see those artistic videos that Redtube has to offer huh?

the Avot video widget was working perfectly until now. I can still search all of videos and when starting playback the loading logo will show. However the widget will return to the results before showing any video at all.
Any ideas?

We fixed some critical bugs and it should be up and running now.
what bugs did you fix? mine still won't work. it sits there on the loading screen. it will load, leave the screen blank, and then start loading again.
