Topic: Local Network Camera Viewing?

Does anyone have any experience with watching a security camera that's attached to the local LAN through the Chumby? In particular, it's an Axis camera with the motion JPEG stream at: http://192.168.1.143/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi (successfully working through browser).

When I plug this URL into the example flash webcam script provided on the Wiki, it doesn't output any errors to the effect that it can't load the URL (as it does if I direct it to an erroneous address), it just doesn't load the stream at all. Any thoughts?

Re: Local Network Camera Viewing?

This may be a long shot but try changing the URL and then re adding - http://www.dwarfurl.com/

Have you tried this widget? - http://www.chumby.com/guide/widget/Load … from%20URL

Re: Local Network Camera Viewing?

Hi Matt, thanks for getting back to me. No such luck with the Load Image From URL widget - just a blank white screen. Also no difference with changed URL's.

Any other thoughts?

Re: Local Network Camera Viewing?

I use the load image widget with my Axis cam - but I just use the URL for the static image/snapshot........ (its better than nothing)

Re: Local Network Camera Viewing?

You can add two "Load image from URL" widgets to the same channel, both with the same URL. Give them about 10 to 15 seconds display time each, and mark them as do not cache. Then the Chumby will cycle back and forth between them, loading a fresh image each time. I call it the poor man's video widget.
