Topic: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

Hi,

So i saw the post about International-Orders.com shipping the Chumby internationally to all of us, non US residents who are desperately trying to get the device.
I have put in my order for my basic black Chumby and wanted to share my experience step by step and be the "Guinea pig" i guess LOL

So far so good, I placed the item in my cart and checked out just fine paying by credit card mentioning the "Chumbysphere" in the comment box at checkout.

I received my first email informing me that my order was processing, a few minutes later another email telling me "Confirmed" and a few minutes later another email changing my status to "Ordered" informing me that my order was placed with Chumby and that they are expecting delivery within 5 to 7 business days. ( eventhough the post said 4 days...)

I am waiting now to get my shipment notification, we will see if my UK adapter will be included with my new Chumby smile and how quickly this process goes.

I'll update everyone on my experience with this company, until then...

Cheers!

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

I checked them out too, but found a guy on the bay that was shipping them for free, for about £150 odd. Worked out cheaper than International-Orders, for me (in the UK) anyway.

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

Did you receive it yet?

See I don't like to buy from Ebay or random sellers, i have had bad experiences. I know this is a reputable company, did some research about it before jumping in and i'd rather pay a bit more and not have to stress out about it.

We will see let you know soon

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

Yeah, he gave me a tracking number and I received it about a week after. He had a good reputation on ebay, and if I could remember his name I'd recommend him to anyone! smile

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

ok cool.

well I bought my Chumby the 16th just got my email from International Orders with my tracking number :-)

On its way to me 2 days, not sure if it will be arriving saturday morning or monday with the week end.

In any case not bad but seems chumby.com's shipping is a bit slower than they posted, 6 days to the International orders warehouse.

I sent in 2 emails questioning them about my order and they responded right away, customer support is really nice there and on it.

I will let you know when i receive it and if they included my free UK adapter, hopefully all goes well! smile

Till then my fellow Chumby lovers

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

Man, I always get like a dog when I'm expecting a parcel... everytime I hear something that sounds like a parcel force van outside my ears perk up and I have to have a look out of the window just so that I don't miss its arrival.

Big up the Chumby massive.
I wonder how many illegal immigrant Chumbies there are in the UK now...

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

I bought mine from www.international-orders.com/chumby for £145 with Fedex 2 day shipping.

It was brand new, in the Box, from Chumby.

Great Customer Service, Tracking, Insurance and received a free UK adapter !

Thanks IO !

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

That's one thing I didn't get with mine, a UK adapter though as I mentioned in the UK adapter thread, that was an easy fix. Not sure if IO were doing the free adapter thing when I was looking, either that or I overlooked it in the excitement of getting my little illegal immigrant into the country.

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

GOT IT!!!!!

With my UK adapter!!!

Thank you International-Orders great service!!

I recommend it to everyone smile

1 more illegal immigrant in the UK!!!! lol

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

UK Chumbies ... were there any extra charges to be paid on delivery, e.g. VAT and/or Import Duty etc?

I have two - one bought on ebay uk (but from a UK owner, so obviously no charges there) and one that came from abroad, and again, no customs charges. I don't know if that was luck / policy / or what...

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

May the Chumby Nation diaspora never have to contend with the wrath of border restrictions unnecessarily!

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

Hi Lolo2008...

I'm considering buying a Chumby through IO, and was wondering if you'd care to share your research on this company?

Thank you for sharing your Chumby shopping experiences on this forum, by the way - very informative!

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

Hey Dozencrows,

first i found the posting of them offering to ship the chumbys internationally with free adapters on this forum.
I then went on the site and checked out their feedback from customers which looked pretty good.

If you google the company you will find great feedback mostly on a lot of forums for iphones. I speak french so I was able to read this post that has been going on for months about them with over 2000 comments on iphon.fr ( http://www.iphonefr.com/viewtopic.php?id=223&p=1 / if any of you speak the language)

I figured that if they could satisfy the french they had to be good!! LOL big_smile tongue

-by the way don't get confused with the old company, apparently the domain International-Orders.com was bought by a new company off of the old owners that went bankrupt and weren't very good. Don't get the negative comments given about the old company confused with the new-

Obviously, my experience was great. I am sure there are a few people trying them out as well seeing that my post has gotten quite some views, if anyone else wants to share their experience about IO this is the place to do it. I'd be interested to know if i just got lucky or if indeed they have it together.

I recommend for you to get it from them. They can be trusted and are very professional.

Let me know how yours goes.

cheers

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

Just ordered another one ;-)

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

Now got my order into I-O, and am _trying_ to be patient!

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

I was also thinking about ordering chumby via IO, but finally I did it on eBay - for the same price (about $220), but with much cheaper shipping costs to Europe ($34.50 to the Czech republic). Now just looking forward to my package...

hmm well my post is about buying with International-Orders... LOL

like i said Ebay, i don't trust, god knows what you are gonna receive and how long it's gonna take to receive it , and you just don't get the same service that you get from a reputable store.

A lot of ebay sellers are scamers, i got burned many times, pay a bit more but get it new, sealed straight from Chumby in Chumby packaging, fully insured and with a free adapter.

Maybe someone should start a post about buying the Chumby on ebay and their experience,

let's keep this post IO only which proves to be a very serious company and I would rather send my fellow Chumbians there than recommend to play the Russian roulette on Ebay  wink

Cheers! May we spread the word and get as Many Chumbies accross the seas !

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

Check it out, International Orders put a forum up today!??? there are already posts for the Chumby!

Re: Buying your Chumby with International-orders.com

I managed to get mine on ebay, this guy called flyingpinkelephant or something. Paid US$264 with insured shipping. Had good feedback and quite a lot of positive chumby sales so I took the leap. A horrible 2.5 week wait but it got here safely. Never heard of IO until now!

Sorry for disturbing your IO promotion;) I just wanted to say there were some alternatives, probably more bargain for somebody. My seller (casino187, if I remember right) had 7year-sell-history and a good feedback, he sent the package immediately after payment and provided me a tracking number.

Concerning the UK power adapter offered by IO, it's a great offer, however we have another power plug type in central Europe hmm

I agree with you a standalone thread would be nice for the eBay-buyer feedbacks. Probably I will do it when my chumby has successfully arrived...

In any case, I hope the chumby company manages all legal issues and starts selling chumby internationally in the near future smile
