Topic: Text-to-Speech - prototype widget

Also, using a specific Flash command we could make the Chumby speak text out loud.

Also, I have attempted to create a widget that uses it, but have run into some issues with the online demo:

1) it uses sessions to limit accesses to the demo page
2) it returns a .wav audio file

I have got around these two problems by using a server-side script grab the session id and transcode the wav as mp3

Unfortunately my time is limited, so I am happy to share my code if people are interested?

You will need to have access to a server with php and crossdomain.xml installed to be able to use my files.

Here's a download of my files: http://www.divshare.com/download/3970173-e18 (new link)
(widget, config panel, php file and example url to call their TTS service)

Ask any questions, but hopefully it's not that complicated.

I am having trouble opening that zip file. I think it may be corrupt hmm

Re: Text-to-Speech - prototype widget

Sorry, try that now. DivShare has a problem with Safari and I keep forgetting to switch to Firefox when uploading.

Re: Text-to-Speech - prototype widget

works great. it would be cool if Chumby could license Cepstral for developers/widgets to use.

Yep, I think so too!

Good potential here [:
Imagine if you could incorporate that into an RSS reader, but have it literally read it to you when you wake up, that would be so sweet.
