Topic: Filesystem questions

Howdy All,

A few filesystem questions.

First, is there a way to back up and restore the filesystem image, so that if I bork something I can restore it to 'factory spec'?

Second, is there a way to mount / as rw, so I can write files to /?  Or is that unwise?  (Perhaps make an /opt directory to throw all the custom stuff under, or at least use as a mount point...)

Here's an oddity.  I mounted an old 32MB flash disk to /mnt and was able to run stuff from it.   However, I couldn't unmount, which I thought was odd.  So, I did a

ls /bin

...and got tons of garbage filenames.  Rebooting the chumby cured this.  To be fair, I've always had issues mounting this flash disk under Linux.  If I mount a portable 2.5" hard disk, everything is fine.
