Topic: Can't get the streaming radio stations to work

How do I make sure to get the right URL and format?

For example, how do I get this NPR stream to work?

http://www.kqed.org/radio/

Does anyone have a working example you could share?

Re: Can't get the streaming radio stations to work

From their front page, click either the "radio" button, or the "listen live".  From there, you'll see the link for "MP3".  Copy the *link*, and paste it into a text editor.

You should get "http://www.kqed.org/listen/live/mp3/kqedradio.pls".  Enter this into a "My Streams" entry, making sure to select "PLS" as the format.

KQED is also available from the SHOUTcast screen - just enter a search for it.

I have added it and it pops during playback.  In fact, most lower bitrate streams pop during playback, but I suspect this will be addressed with the upcoming firmware update.

Thanks Duane.  I only used KQED as an example, I figured it might be on Radio Free or Shoutcast.

Re: Can't get the streaming radio stations to work

So I tried KQED.  When I chose MP3 it went to iTunes and I copied that URL which was different than your example, but it worked.

Now I can't figure out the correct URL for these:
http://www.981kissfm.com/main.html
http://www.kblx.com/
http://www.106kmel.com/main.html

I've tried http://www.106kmel.com/cc-common/ondema … l?world=st with all 4 options (MP3, OGG, PLS and M3U) with no luck.

I can't get this one to play either  http://www.oldiesradionet.com/oldies56.pls  I tried it with the .pls at the end and also without the .pls since you have to check the pls box anyways.  Since Chumby is in charge of the music playing overhead for the entire office the ladies would be very appreciative if I could get this station to work.

Ah - in that one, the PLS file is not only poorly formed - they forgot to put a line ending on the last line - but even if you do use the stream URL in the file, it seems to be incomplete and either it comes back empty, or it hangs.  I've tried it on both the chumby and my Mac.

Basically, this one seems to be fundamentally busted.

Thanks Duane, the ladies will just have to stick with 181.fm oldies!
