My thoughts exactly! Here's an even clearer picture. https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker … -echo-leak

it won't be anywhere near as fun, plus it'll probably constantly be wanting you to buy something.
I can't help but think, with the example screen... that the appropriate response to the suggested question would be "what? can't you READ?"
This could be interesting to me if: it can be hacked to run stock Android, the camera and microphone can be disabled, it has a headphone jack. That is a lot of "if"s.
It's launched as the Echo Show. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01J24C0TI?th=1 Lots of neat capabilities, looks like no touch interaction, but a robust video/audio calling system for other Alexa devices.

.
In the video is shows virtual buttons to "Answer" or "Reject" a call. I would assume that means it has a touch screen.
It will be interesting to see what the current holder of the chumby patents (not me!) chooses to do.
I don't know, it isn't the only thing to be free standing and have a screen. It might be a tough case and Amazon surely has enough money to tie up any case in court for many years. Whoever holds the Chumby patents is likely at a disadvantage regardless of the law.
They are even going with a "Widget" model where developers can build custom skills for it. Whats new is old again I suppose.. https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker … skills-sdk
No way to get ahead of this bunch. I just saw the Echo Show. Amazon has put a lot into the Alexa program. Seems like this could stick around a while. Always learning.

If not, I suppose it can be another device for Blue Octy to support when it's abandoned

Be careful, you might end up the keeper of all things orphaned.
Amazon just announced the Echo Spot... it's... kinda like the C1

Wow! I don't know if I am more impressed or scared.
Since they seem to be playing out the entire Chumby product line in reverse, I think we can expect the next Spot to be leather.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH that's hilarious, and too true!
Of course Google needed to get in on the act. Google's idea of a Chumby/Infocast 8:
