Topic: Clock overlay

Is there a widget or app that will keep the time showing on my chumby?

I remember there was a short program once for that, but I don't do such, I quit after dBase IV.

Since the house dash is on strike I miss the constant time - actually a "wrap around " for the chumby screen showing time, etc., with the "window" for the current app would be great ( as in dash).

Re: Clock overlay

Yes, there's a hack for this.

See:

Basically you create a small file and put it on your chumby.

Is there a "how to" for putting a small fie on my chumby?

Re: Clock overlay

Follow these steps first to get a console on the chumby:

Then type the following command:

cat > /psp/clockoverlay.xml

Then cut/paste the text in the console:

<overlay format='%A%n%H:%M:%S' x='10' y='10' width='300' height='100' textsize='32'/>

...then hit ctrl-D.  You should get another prompt - then type:

sync; reboot; exit

You mean "cat" rather than "echo"...

Re: Clock overlay

Does this time overlay hack work with the chumby 8 and Infocast 8 (with chumby firmware) ?  I tried but it didn't work.  I am trying to show the time and date like my Dash.
