Topic: Local gcc install fails

Following this instruction to have a local gcc toolchain, but encountering a problem.
http://www.kosagi.com/blog/tricks/#Loca … +%28gcc%29
- can run a first batch of commands from mkdir /tmproroot  to   mount tmpfs...
- opkg update fails, it does not find any hosts

When I try to run "$ ping google.com" no host is found, actually cannot find any hosts. It works before running a batch of commands. I must reboot the system to get network back online.

Anyone have had luck installing a local gcc toolchain on a device?
Can I use my own Ubuntu linux bo for development, is there PC-Linux "hello world" tutorial to crosscompible for NeTV device?

Device: NeTV firmware 31
