Alec,
Your credit card was only charged once.  You tried twice to purchase the chumby and were successful only on the 2nd try.  The first try was declined (I won't disclose the reasons on this forum, but you can email Customer Support for a detailed explanation). 

What happened was your card issuing bank pre-authorized both attempts and is just 'holding' the funds due to the pre-auth.  This is not a charge, and your card issuing bank should release the funds in 2-3 business days.
