Topic: Widget email server needs config help
Hi,
I tried sending email from the NYTimes news widget and it got caught in one of my mail server's SPAM prevention policies.
I have postfix configured to reject email coming from a server that uses an unresolvable hostname as part of HELO verification. Here's the error message I'm getting in my logs:
Mar 18 07:38:58 --server-- postfix/smtpd[17333]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from smtp.chumby.com[209.34.82.130]: 450 4.7.1 <iadchumweb04p.ood.ops>: Helo command rejected: Host not found; from=<chumby-contact-auto@chumby.com> to=<--me--> proto=ESMTP helo=<iadchumweb04p.ood.ops>
so what's currently configured as iadchumweb04p.ood.ops should be something that is resolvable by DNS.
While I can make an exception, this rule blocks hundreds of spam messages to my server every day and it's a standard Postfix rule, so others are bound to be affected by this too.
Thanks,
Tom
