Topic: Superfish

Thought I would spread the word about Lenovo's "Superfish removal tool". It does not work...at least for me. My girlfriend has a Lenovo laptop that was infected with this malware. I manually removed the software and certificate because at the time there was no removal tool. When I found out my sister in law purchased the exact same laptop I figured I would try Lenovo's removal tool. After it ran it stated everything had been removed. I then rebooted the computer and visited a secure site and checked the certificate. Sure enough, it still said Superfish. Back to manually removing the malware and certificate. I understand this is only one incident but if you use their removal tool double check. Better yet, remove everything manually. It isn't difficult and there are simple instructions only a web search away.

Tar, feathers, congress. Some assembly required.
