Topic: The Big Widget/App Cleanout

Hi Diamaunt & Duane & crew,
First, thanks so much for everything you do to keep this running.  I've been an owner/user/subscriber/fan for a while!

Second, a question: would it be possible to suppress / unpublish / hide / delete / remove (whatever is appropriate architecturally) the following widgets/apps that look like they're non-functional?  As a trial run, I focused on the Shopping category since there's not many apps in there, just to kick off this process.  These are combined test results from a Dash, plus Chrome on Windows.  (I have not made any SSL modifications to the Dash... which device models need that to be done?)

The starting point:
Widget category: Shopping
all apps in this category: chumby.com/guide/EFC41AD6-2F35-11DB-8753-001372292121/category

Thanks for all your help and dedication!  Would posts formatted like this help you to do this without taking alot of your time?

Re: The Big Widget/App Cleanout

Thanks for kick-starting this, Dan. The widget clean up is brought up frequently, but nothing ever happens. Let's just do it.

I propose starting a section for this in the Wiki. It would be nice to have a table where one can see the devices where a widget works, if it requires the SSL fix, etc.

Forum moderators: I get an error when I try to create a wiki account. Can please you look into it?
Or should we take this effort somewhere else (i.e. a github wiki) ?

P.S.: My IP got blocked from the forum and wiki just for trying to create a wiki account.

There's a LOT of spambots that try to spam the wiki.. (multiple per hour). So repeated failed auth attempts over there end up temporarily blocking the wiki, and forum, since they run on the same machine.

I'd rather keep this over here, on the forum, instead of the wiki, this thread is a good place..

There are efforts going on in the background to get the SSL issue fixed,

What I suggest, at this point, is for AustinTXdan to keep the first post on this thread updated with whatever other posts are made, and if the decision is made to delete a dead widget, we can remove it from the list, so that the list stays 'current'.

Cleaning up any loose bits and bytes.
