Topic: Local Weather Radar

I was just wondering if it's just me or is any one else getting radar that is exactly one hour old from this app? It wasn't pulling down anything for a few days then it started working again but again as before the radar it's getting is one hour old. Odd.

Re: Local Weather Radar

I did see 2 other widgets (Google Calendar and NOAA Weather) could not connect last night or this morning.  I had to reboot both of my chumbys and now they are working.

Re: Local Weather Radar

It was my understanding that the secure connection, https, was forthcoming on the chumby (not all models), but that work was being directed to "save the dash" to allow it to be used on the chumby net by shut down date.

Is that still the situation, since the "https" problem is responsible for the problem with local radar, etc.?

Re: Local Weather Radar

It appears so - once I get the dash under control, I'll be able to get back to the SSL update.

And work a full time job, and spend time with your family.  Now I understand why the Chumby logo was chosen. :-)

Tar, feathers, congress. Some assembly required.

Re: Local Weather Radar

I know I have to be patient  but it's so hard. The radar app actually is the whole reason I went out and bought 2 insignia 8's as I have 3 Sony Dash units but apps like the radar app haven't worked in months so I bought 2 units and signed up for subscription and was so excited that the radar app was again working only to realize it was randomly not able to pull down images and also images would be 1,2,3 or more hours old. I'm glad that my Sony Dash may be resurrected again soon but I so want my radar widget app to work again a lot more. sad

Re: Local Weather Radar

I also used weather radar as my main Dash screen, and was pretty sad when it stopped working. Thanks to Duane for working on Dash support, it is much appreciated.

so you got dash working, that was last week's miracle, do try and keep up.

:-)

and adding..

For me its the family photos from somewhere, and, more importantly, to me, the local weather radar.

I will, of course, wait.. and hope that these too will survive.

Re: Local Weather Radar

Mine seems to only update a few times a day, so almost always old radar. Pretty useless.

Re: Local Weather Radar

You can work around it somewhat by using the URLImage widget with the Weather Underground's NEXRAD display.  It won't  be animated but will pull the latest (5 minutes old or less) radar image every time it loads.

Use

 http://radblast.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/radar/WUNIDS_map?station=LOT

as the image URL, with "LOT" changed to your local radar.  (KLOT is Chicago).  Leave off the "K".

Re: Local Weather Radar

Thank you! That does help to see a current radar image.
