Same issue with CNet News, should be working again for all devices.
cNet was working this morning!
OK the NOAA widget should be working again for all devices.
Does that mean there is hope for the local radar widget as well?

That's a third-party widget, so there's nothing I can do to fix it. The author will have to do it.

Do you have access to the author? Then this is not a firmware problem?
This one, as I said earlier, is my main use of my chumby.
You can contact the author by leaving a comment on the widget. i don't have any special relationship with the author.
It's a "firmware" issue in the sense that older firmware has expired SSL certificates. Unfortunately, I do not have the systems set up to create and deploy new firmware images, so the fixes are to find ways to get the data without using SSL from the device. That's what I did for the widgets I fixed - I use one of the chumby servers to collect the data using https on behalf of the devices and forward it to the devices using http.
Are there future plans to update the firmware?
The local weather radar is the primary use of my chumbys. Without it I don't see any use continuing my subscription.
More and more web content is available only via https, and not via http.
NASA images from http://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov are now https only.
I also use ImageURL, I suppose some of the weather / lightning radar images that I fetch will no longer be available via http soon...
bummer.
There are newer firmware images for the chumby Classic and chumby One, with newer certs, so you can try those and see if your experience improves.
"Unfortunately, I do not have the systems set up to create and deploy new firmware images,"
Does that mean as more locations switch to https that those of us who have C8s are out of luck?
Is it even possible to write software to overcome this problem?

We're looking into patching an existing firmware release to update the certs.
I realize that to a great extent this is a labor of love for you "guys"...
and, age of the system considered, it is impressive that the elephant dances at all, no matter how well -
we on this end will keep our eye on the center ring.

Thumbs up to this!
OK the NOAA widget should be working again for all devices.
It has stopped for me, i.e., "loading" with no data appearing. (c8)
note: says my zip code is valid but nothing happens
The NOAA widget on my I3.5 is now working again (after resubmitting the Zipcode) but on my I8 that didn't help.
My NOAA still won't load anything other than showing empty 5 day forecast windows. It's weird though, I caught it working a few nights ago in the middle of the night, but now gone again. I tried changing to other zipcode near mine (56093), but still not working. Also, like the other fellow, my Local Weather Radar won't load. I have an Insignia 3.5 inch. I updated the firmware to 1.0.7 (I think that was the latest on that link).
Edit: I was finding the same problem on the NOAA preview, but I let it sit for a while and then it loaded. Seems like it is taking much longer than before, like over a minute.
I'd noticed this widget spending most of the time at "Loading", and now it's finally taking longer than the default timeout. My guess would be an upstream resource issue...

Perhaps - though if it's doing it all the time with the same zip code, it may mean it's not the latest version of the widget, which should pull data from chumby's content server cache for at least a hour before fetching new data from NOAA.
Please try forcing a reload of the channel, or clear the cache from the "pi" screen.
I didn't know the NOAA wx widget worked, I just reloaded it. It does spend the entire 60 seconds at "loading" right now.
If it caches from the server an hour ahead that may be why. It might be working in the morning. Maybe the server doesn't know about my zip code, but maybe it does now?
still "loading" here - no data zip 35630
this worked for a while after the first fix.
The NOAA widget:
Zip 92833.
It said loading at the top briefly, then the blue screen loaded, it still says loading for the entire time, when it finally finished loading and was all populated at 50 seconds.
I just selected that widget manually on the chumby (I3), it took the same, 50 seconds. Not cached locally.
The display time is set for 45 seconds.
It displayed for about 10 seconds and then changed to the next widget.
It just cycled normally, this time the noaa widget never finished loading before it changed. Odd.
I notice the preview on chumby.com takes it's own time to, but it does work.
The local weather radar widget doesn't seem to load at all.
The content server is overloaded at the moment - I've made a couple of changes to the NOAA widget to mitigate it, but it may take a day or so to propagate.

working for me now - zip 35630.
And for your next miracle - the local radars?
Thank you, Duane. I really appreciate your work on this and getting the NOAA Weather Widget working again.
Yes thanks Duane. My NOAA is working too. I did post a comment on the Local Weather Radar widget section for dravenst. Maybe he will see it and give that app a look.

I would second your posting there - I'm not sure where it is?
