Topic: Android 4.0 alternative images for existing chumby devices.

Please provide us with Android 4.0 images for our existing chumby devices so we can use them with a supported operating system (perhaps running the full screen android chumby app, but with the google app store available if we need it).
Now that you have exited the hardware business there is no reason why all existing chumbies cant be booted on android and have the chumby app running to tie it into the chumby channel. this will also simplify your support so you need only support the chumby app on android rather than support half a dozen different devices running different operating system variants of linux.

Android 4.0 requires more advanced processors and memory capacity than Chumbys have.

Keep in mind that the 3.5 devices only have a 350MHz ARM9 (ie ARMv5) and 64MB of RAM, and in the case of Classic, only 64MB of NAND.

Android 4.0 requires at least 256MB of RAM, a GPU, and at least ARMv6, and many GB of storage.

thanks for clarifying duane. i will likely pick up a cheapo chinese tablet running android 4.0 with a stand on ebay for $100 then and use that to replace my chumby units as they die.
hopefully chumby can put together an update to the control panel for offline only with automatic downloading of users widgets to local storage at some point before your servers go dark.
