Topic: Infocast 3.5 /dev/accel?

So multiple reviews of the Infocast 3.5 mention a 3-axis accelerometer, but there's no /dev/accel on mine, and no chumby_accel.ko in /lib/modules linked into the kernel, the BestBuy spec page doesn't list an accelerometer as equipment, and I haven't found any evidence it exists.

Is there an accelerometer on this beast?

Re: Infocast 3.5 /dev/accel?

Yes - while viewing widgets, press and hold the top button and tilt the device to the left or right.  If the device shows arrows on the screen, and advances the widget, then your accelerometer should be working.

/dev/accel is how the "chumby Classic" accessed the accelerometer.

In the "chumby One" and Insignia 3.5, it uses a user-space daemon "acceld" instead of a kernel driver, and the Flash Player talks to it through a pipe "/tmp/.accel"

Re: Infocast 3.5 /dev/accel?

Ah, thank you.   And acceld with any options appears to dump the accelerometer state to standard output.
