Re: YouStreams-Widget

@Andiii:
- I increased the max. nr. of podcasts again, but I currently have no general solution for you regarding this problem.
- Timeline:
-- I don't know what exactly you mean with timeline: the displaying of elapsed time/total time of a video ? That is a feature of the API of NetStream/yt-chromeless player, i.e. there's a function that returns the time. The Youtube chromeless player (which is used, when you don't have the script installed) can also jump to an arbitrary time in the video backwards and forwards, so if you don't have the script installed, you can simply drag the button of the progress-bar at the bottom and the video will jump to that point. This feature is almost lost completely when you install the script, because the NetStream/Video-Objects (which are used then) seem to only be capable of jumping forward up to the current end of the buffered video.
-- YouStreams makes use of chumby's btplayer to play podcast and radio. As far as I know, btplayer doesn't have a "function" to return the elapsed time of a stream and there's no fast-forward function.
- There's no support for playing files from USB.

I also wish there were a nice, fully functional mp3-player for the chumby - anyone interested in porting rockbox ? At least the part of rockbox that creates the artist/title/etc. database would be interesting, since it is extremely fast compared to some original mp3-player-firmwares (sansa fuze, e.g.)

Re: YouStreams-Widget

Awesome widget.  So much better than mediafly, even in this rough state.

You increased it to 130. That's ok. Not for all but for the most important. Thanks
Do you use this value to define a array at start?

Yes, that's what i mean with timeline. Displaying of elapsed time/total time and jump to a defined point.

Yes, i tried it before i installed the script and as you tell, it's really doesn't working. The video is frozen as i use the progress-bar.
So the last hope for playing other stuff with timeline on chumby is gone.

I will try to use localhost in the next days.

What do you mean with "Rockbox"? The alternative firmware for Archos Jukebox.
Yes this will be a great improvement. Last time as i installed this firmware on my old Archos Juckbox Recorder - Rockbox had no database till then but it was a gain for this device.

Re: YouStreams-Widget

Still have problems after zapping the channels, then the widget is hanging and no streams play, sometimes network error after this. For me only reboot helps.
Youstrean is the only widget in this channel, without time limit.

Anyone else have the same issues on the Chumby classic?

Re: YouStreams-Widget

Anatmavada, I remember reading somewhere in your posts, that you also have a chumby one. If you (still) have it, do you have the same issues on the c1 ? Unfortunately I can't reproduce your problems - I only have a c1 (which moreover runs on the beta firmware). I tried changing the channels while playing, but didn't have the effect.

Re: YouStreams-Widget

really a great widget. i like it.
but do you know why the following link doesn´t work: http://www.radiogong.de/live/high_q.m3u
it´s my favorite radio station.
thanks in advance for your support

Re: YouStreams-Widget

@waidler-franky: Open the file http://www.radiogong.de/live/high_q.m3u in a Text-Editor (e.g. wordpad). Surprisingly (for me), the file contains a link to another playlist : http://radiator.nci.de:8000/high_q.m3u . If you use that one, it will work (I just added it to my Radio-Stations and my chumby's just playing it (coldplay)).
[YouStreams expects links to .mp3-streams inside .m3u's, so the first link does not work, sorry]

Re: YouStreams-Widget

I have a Chumby classic and my son  has  a Chumby one

This happens on my Chumby classic.
Mostly when I'm zapping I'm change the radio station while streaming.
The stream stops, I can change to any station and press play or stop, but
the stream never comes online again. The display with the ID4 tag stays all the time on the last played station.

Sometimes it helps to press the back button and choose again radio or podcast and the Chumby load again the server.

Sometime nothing helps I'm not even able to change the channel, and then the Chumby complain about no network connection.... then only a reboot helps.

Re: YouStreams-Widget

@Anatmavada: It's still not clear to me: have you tried similar actions on the chumby one ? And if so, did you encounter the same or similar problems, or no problems at all on the C1?

AAAAANYOOOONE WITH A CHUMBY CLAAAAASSIC : PLEEASE HEEELP:
- Please give short feedbacks: do you / don't you have comparable problems like Anatmavada (see above) when rapidly zapping Radio-Stations ?

Re: YouStreams-Widget

I installed the same channels on my Son's Chumby One, with the same effect.
While playing and zapping you streams got quit and there was no way to listen to music.

I was still able to change channels and to change widgets. I could even start My Streams and it was playing. After stopping and going back to YouStreams, then YousStreams played like nothing was happened.

I'm using total 6 categories and have a total of 32 Radio Stations.
For the Podcast  I'm using 5 categories and have a total of 12 XML Podcast Feeds.

Re: YouStreams-Widget

O.k. great. Can we try this next:

- can YOU please install the beta firmware http://forum.chumby.com/viewtopic.php?id=4806 on either C1 or classic (the model is obviously not the problem). I have installed this firmware (name in Control-panel/Chumby-Info is engineering_regression_1.0.2726) several weeks ago (on my C1) and it's working fine. The only difference I noticed though, is that now mplayer is working, while it was not on the old FW.

- I will try the radio-stations you've posted and switch between'em 'til my fingers are bleeding

the new firmware is called: FW:1.0.2913

release 04.03.2010

Re: YouStreams-Widget

- Yep; did an OTA update and now also have version 1.0.2913

@Anatmavada: Good news: I can reproduce the problem, maybe I can fix it tomorrow.
No need to test the beta FW!

Re: YouStreams-Widget

Thanks at least you can reproduce it, this is a big step.

Re: YouStreams-Widget

I put an update on the server that solves ONE problem.

Unfortunately there's still some problem with Radio Tropic (http://broadcast.infomaniak.ch/tropic-low.mp3.pls). At the moment it seems to me that this stream often freezes the btplayd (which is used by Control-Panel/Music/my Streams and also by YouStreams): Symptoms are:
- The ID3-Tag of Radio Tropic is shown
- Radio Tropic does not start playing
- If you switch to any another channel, the channel will not play; you still see the ID3-Tag of Radio Tropic
- Go to Control-panel/Music/myStreams and play any channel, then go back --> YouStreams will play

I think "my Streams" somehow makes btplay recover from this frozen state (by restarting btplayd ?)
Needs further investigation. For now I suggest to avoid Radio Tropic.

Maybe the problem is not related to this specific channel, but e.g. to all channels with bad reception (lost IP-Packets) or whatever ?

Re: YouStreams-Widget

I  had problem manly between switching DRS 4, DRS 1, SWR3, Radio Bangkok, Skyradio and Capitol FM.

No problem i can avoid Radio Tropic.

Sometimes when i switch from Radio Bangkok (one of my favorite)
to a other station, the Id4 tag of radio Bangkok stays for very long...

While playing for some stations you can switch easily other need about 3-10 seconds to load
and start to stream.

Can change YouStream, that each time when you change a playing channel it stops the stream before it load a new one and eventually restart btplayd if this is no a stable process?

Before i was thinking i could even be a ISP problem, because BTL (Belize Telemedia) the only  ISP in the whole country, has packet filter on there DNS-Server to disable VOIP like Skype and others. But i have no possibility to run the Chumby over a VPN network to see if there is any effect from the DNS Server.

Re: YouStreams-Widget

OK, I'm not very savvy on Internet music.   I had added the widget, installed the interface, rebooted, gotten to the youstream apps page - but I'm not getting the adding music part.   I like folkalley.com.   I gather there's some other address to add instead of a .com - that ends in .m3u or .pls.    Where to I get that?

Re: YouStreams-Widget

Cool - that was easy!   Thanks, spunk.    I set it up on a separate channel, because I didn't know if it would play in the background while my other widgets were scrolling.    Off to find other radio stations I might like ....

How can I tell when I find a radio station I like, what the .m3u or .pls address is?

just activate
[x] Share my Radio-Streams and Podcasts
on youstreams.appspot.com

in future it will be possible to search podcasts/streams.

a great database will be created.

Re: YouStreams-Widget

Website-Update: You can now search for Radiostations and Podcasts contributed by other YouStreams-users on http://youstreams.appspot.com

Log in, enter the category of Podcasts or Radiostreams where you want to add additional content and click the "Search for Podcast..." or "Search for Radio-Stream..." button at the bottom.

Re: YouStreams-Widget

hello

a question about radioio.com

the 128k-streams are like:
http://streampoint.radioio.com/streams/ … listen.pls

its a playlist with just one adress inside like:
File1=http://76.76.18.109:8696/

in winamp it is played without complication - it should be an mp3-stream as i see.

in youstreams.appspot there is the text:
cannot verify, but may work

but on the chumby it will not work.

could someone please look why and perhaps find an working stream (there are about 20 or more streams with different sounds on radioio.com)

Re: YouStreams-Widget

On http://youstreams.appspot.com click on "Add DIRECT .mp3 Radio-Stream-Address" and enter the address you found inside the .pls-file  "http://76.76.18.109:8696" . This will work. For some reason the chumby cannot fetch and interpret the  .pls on its own (curl fails for the .pls-url, while wget works fine).

Generally: whenever a playlist (.pls or .m3u) does not work, try to load the playlist on your computer, open it with a text-editor (wordpad e.g.) and try using the stream-address inside (as "DIRECT .mp3 Radio-Stream-Address").

Re: YouStreams-Widget

Ratzfatz wrote:

right. my mistake was: i also inserted the text "file1=" before the adress. (just copy and paste without reading)

Re: YouStreams-Widget

many thanks, ratzfatz. radiogong does work now and it´s a big help for my wife in the morning:-) it´s a real great widget.
