Topic: Battery-powered

I haven't gotten mine to connect to the network yet sad  but I already have a suggestion: built-in battery.

Maybe I'll feel different once I actually start using it, but how could I possibly not want to carry this thing around with me? smile

Re: Battery-powered

oof, I hope you get through your network issues soon. Would be interesting to here what your problems were so we can try to solve them for future users.

As for the battery, there is a discussion on that at http://forum.chumby.com/viewtopic.php?id=13. Basically, adding a reasonable battery with good performance would add too much to the cost of the device, as the target sales price is around $150. However, since it is open source, you are more than welcome to add a battery yourself smile

Re: Battery-powered

Unfortunately, that wouldn't work for this version of the hardware because all the point of load regulators are slaved off the main power input, and not the +5V line. Powering +5V alone would be pretty bad for the chumby, I think.
