This would be MOST USEFUL ... it can be as easy as pointing to the mobile site at https://www.google.com/voice/m.
Think about all of the chumbies sitting on night stands next to the phone. This would give us google voice users visual voice mail- and if it allowed playback, would be TRULY useful.

That'd be a really cool project. Unfortunately I don't have a Google Voice account, or I'd take a look and see what it'd take to get that working.

GoogleVoice = new name for GrandCentral.
They are still in controlled sign-up, signup at https://services.google.com/fb/forms/googlevoiceinvite/
The last request I made was granted in under 2 weeks. YMMV. Maybe if CHUMBY talked to them, they'd move faster on it??

I have an account and would really be happy to see a widget up and running for this. Once I get some more invites I will give them to people willing to work on making one.
But if someone really wants their hands on one they sell them for a couple bucks on ebay.

Great idea, i just got a google voice account and this widget would be neat!

The hard part, I think, would be parsing the JSON, but that at least gives you a list of URLs to tickle to get things to happen.

Thanks to the invite from keefermilton here is a little "test" widget that hopefully allows you to play your Google Voice voicemail. It's all a hack job so don't expect stability. 
It looks like from what I have read, that the official Google Voice api should be coming out soonish, so I am not sure I want to put a ton of work into this widget yet.
Works for me, so if anyone else can test it and has any positive results, let me know.

1. I like names vs. phone numbers - is there a way to use the name on the 1st screen and then display the name + phone number (maybe even the icon/avatar if you have it uploaded to google contacts?) on the second screen?
2. Is there anyway in this widget to let me switch to "missed" or "received" or "archived" or "starred" messages (the other folders from GV;s main screen?)

Thanks for the kind words! Because of the possibility of the official api releasing soon, I am not really interested in the amount of "screen scraping" this would take right now. But rest assured I will get it in there the moment the api is released.

Yes I can do this now, of course it will still only list numbers for the time being.

Very cool, it is a portal for the mobile site - pretty smart, but we don't have that capability via Flash for the chumby.
