Topic: Question about capabilities of shipping version of Chumby

Hey Duane,

Can we expect any revisions or updates to the capabilities of the Flash engine in the shipping version of the Chumby?

Specifically was wondering about:

1) Support for .gif, .png images
2) External MP3 Audio
3) Fixes for some of the memory leaks you've identified
4) General performance tweaks/memory heap allocation

If you can share anything with us that might be interesting, would love to hear more.

Thanks!
Rob

Re: Question about capabilities of shipping version of Chumby

1) 80% probability
2) 100% probability
3) Already done, update forthcoming for rev 1 prototype (aka Foo) chumbys
4) We're bumping to 8MB heap for Flash, contemplating 16MB

The current prototypes in the field are running FlashLite 2.0 - the coming update will rev to FlashLite 2.1 (maybe 2.1.1 if it's done in time).

Awesome thanks for the info Duane!

I'll keep an eye out for the update for the rev 1 prototypes - definitely interested in updating mine and checking things out.

Thanks!
Rob

Almost forgot - is there any news on the wifi driver issues for the 802.11b/g connect/stability issues?

Re: Question about capabilities of shipping version of Chumby

Yes, this upcoming update addresses that - you should be able to work with b-only, b/g and g-only access points.  We're still testing, but it looks OK so far.
