Topic: Broken Power Button - Correct/Safe Way To Shutdown?

I just want to make sure I'm doing this right, the infocast I got was "defective" so I got it at a discount because the power button wasn't working. After looking at the switch I could probably replace it but so far I've been making do by the the following:

in a terminal window:
shutdown

via the interface Settings>Device Info>pi>OFF

same with rebooting, in terminal via "reboot" and through the hidden control panel.

I just want to make sure these are acceptable methods so that I don't corrupt the filesystem or attached storage.

In the terminal window, I'd encourage you to issue a "sync" command, just as a safety measure to flush any writes to the SD card.

The Control Panel commands should be doing that for you.
