As Phidgets are supported by Linux just fine today, I don't see why they would not work with the chumby with no problems.  Have you tried it?

Phidgets! Yes! I am interested in this as well. I have one project in particular that will benefit from the RFID reader. I will let you know what I uncover.

I just got a phidgets board to play with in my "copious spare time", if anyone else is playing with these let me know--would be interested in hearing if anyone has had success or failure with the boards.
