Topic: Getting stock index quotes on Stock Ticker widget

Greetings all,

Does anyone know the symbols to use in the Stock Ticker widget for quotes on the major indices, as opposed to individual equities? Specifically I am looking for the Dow, Nasdaq Composite and S&P 500. Oil would be good too..

For example, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is typically represented by something like $INDU, etc.

first character usually $ or ^ or .

$DJI - Dow Jones Industrials
$IXIC - Nasdaq
$GSPC - S&P 500
$TNX - 10-year Treasury

I'm not sure how standard these all are, but they work on Yahoo Finance and Google Finance.

EDIT: None seem to work on the Chumby, as it won't let you enter special characters...

Any update on this?  Index results would be quite handy.  What source is used to feed the widget?

How do I enter a stock that is OTC (Over the counter) yahoo shows the symbol with a ".bb" at the end. Google shows it "OTC:"

It seems that only AMEX-listed stocks are programmable.
Is it planned also for otc stocks or stocks at canadian TSX?
