Topic: We need some new apps !

Same old same old gets a bit boring. Seems developers arn't working on apps for Chumby anymore.

May be somebody can work on developing a realistic Fireplace for Starters.

The animated fireplace just doesn't cut it. I want a realistic fire in mine Chumby like here

would anyone know how to make one? And how about a Good Christmas Tree that lights up in a winter Scene w/ Santa.

It looks like you can play that widget on YouTube. There is also a YouTube player widget available for the Chumby. Why don't you see if you can use that to play the widget?

This problem is not so much the creation of the widget, which is trivial, as it is getting properly-licensed footage of the fireplace.

We can't simply rip the video out of that widget because it's covered by copyright.

If someone can find some public domain video footage of an appropriate fireplace, the widget could be done quickly - I'll even provide the code smile

I built a widget with that video - "Fireplace (Video)" in the Webcams category.

The video was public domain, so there are no licensing issues.

Good find, steelpaw!  This is why I love this community.

Hi Duane,

Just went & checked the fireplace on Pip. The left top side of the screen has a competing bit of light that detracts from the fire itself. Is there any way to add a bit of color to the fire to make it a bit more realistic not just white? How about fireplace sounds?

I am so happy you made this and this is just a bit of feedback.

Well, this is stock video footage, so there isn't much I can do about the actual image of the fireplace.

There are so many good sites whose info would be useful on these devices (spaceweather.com, freshmeat.net) Maybe a customizable tv guide, Since facebook is so well supported how about facebook chat?
