Topic: Flash Emulation

Hey!

I love the new feature that allows us to upload our own widgets!

I was wondering if a Device Emulator, for use in Macromedia Flash Pro 8, would be developed. This way it would cut down dev time dramatically. Or is there a device that is similar?

Thanks!

Re: Flash Emulation

Well, if you look under the "my widget mixes" and choose one, you'll see a link to "virtual chumby for this widget mix".

This brings up a Flash movie that behaves pretty close to the real device (except for the Control Panel).

Re: Flash Emulation

Hi Duane

I Downloaded sampleclock.fla and with a change in a line of code i tried uploading it as a widget But it showed me
----------------------------------------------------------
1 error prohibited this widget from being saved
There were problems with the following fields:

Movie content type must be a Flash movie

----------------------------------------------------------

what can be the reason?
i uploaded my swf on my server (to check my content)
URL : http://martinselva.com/sampleclock_v2.swf

Re: Flash Emulation

Hmmm, interesting - what the server is doing is checking the mimetype for the uploaded file as provided by your browser, which should be "application/x-shockwave-flash" for the movie.

Can you tell me what browser and version you're using to do the upload?

Re: Flash Emulation

Thanks, we'll attempt to reproduce.

Please send an email to me at duane@chumby.com as I may need to ask you to run some experiments to help track this down.
