Thank you for your interest in Chumby! We are hoping to be downunder soon.  At this time we can't ship to international addresses due to legal restrictions. However, as we continue to grow and solidify our business in the U.S., we will also explore international options. Please keep checking www.chumby.com for the latest information.

Re: Chumby in Australia

In the interim how are us Aussies able to get our hands on a Chumby? Obviously I have found them on eBay however the prices asked are ridiculous. Is Chumby available through another channel?

Re: Chumby in Australia

You can get them through http://www.international-orders.com but their mark-up might be too much.

Do you not have a friend in the USA who can buy it and ship on to Aus?

Re: Chumby in Australia

I found it to be cheaper on ebay, and am currently playing the waiting game. Obviously YMMV in Aus.

Re: Chumby in Australia

I ordered mine through my sister in the US and had it shipped here (Sydney).   All told, with the shipment costs plus insurance, etc. it nearly doubled the price.  But I couldn't wait.   I've had mine since November/December and I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with it!  One of the best gadgets I've ever owned.

Re: Chumby in Australia

Check out this site http://www.priceusa.com.au
I have only just come across it because of this whirlpool thread http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-re … m?t=913221

Shipped to australia for around 240 aussie is pretty good.

Re: Chumby in Australia

Mine arrived in Sydney from the USA yesterday.  I've connected to the wlan at home and downloaded the updates.  What a fantastic bit of gear - now to set up the widgets!

Re: Chumby in Australia

Did it come with a plug that fits in the wall? (In Australia).

edit: Actually, I see in the wiki that it does not.  It only comes with the US prong thingy.  But it looks looks like I can use almost any other adapter I might have laying around.

You'll need to get a US to AU plug converter.  Anywhere like Dick Smith, Jaycar or even Kathmandu will sell these.

Or, just get an Aussie plug AC/DC adaptor of the right output voltage, amps and plug?

Re: Chumby in Australia

Yep, that would work also.  Here's the specs;
Input: AC 100-240V, 50-60Hz, 0.5A. Output: DC 12V, 1.0A. DC barrel jack: 2.1mm inner diameter x 5.5mm outer diameter x 9.5mm female (P-5) plug, positive center.

Chumbymatt - Is there any update on future international releases yet?

No information that I'm allowed to divulge at this stage. We are continuing to explore our options. I'll keep an eye on this thread and post when I have information for you.

Re: Chumby in Australia

I purchased mine through priceusa.com who offered faultless service with great communication.  I'm probably a bit naughty but I got some flat edge grips on the base of the pin, vice grips on the end and very carefully twisted the pins very close to the base.  You can't tell it's not an AU adapter. smile
I've had mine for a week or so now and I am so impressed. The wait was killing me after following Bunnie's blog sad

Re: Chumby in Australia

I also got mine from priceusa yesterday and was pretty impressed with the service.

All seems to work pretty well (using a usa->aus adapter for power).
