Topic: Another Chumby Classic passes...

A sad day today.... I've declared a much loved member of our household, a Chumby Classic, as dead.....

It had been acting up for a few weeks - the touch screen becoming increasingly jittery then later increasingly frequent random crashing.

I had assumed it was the external power supply (it was on it's third), but alas no...

The final straw came when I decided to open her up. I eventually got in, although the leather case suffered significantly during the procedure (my ability to Google is apparently poor), so even if I did find the cause of the electronic issue she'll never be the same :-(

Re: Another Chumby Classic passes...

Sorry for the passing of your Chumby. Others are offered for sale occasionally so you can get another.

Tar, feathers, congress. Some assembly required.

Re: Another Chumby Classic passes...

Thanks Bolo,

I did have a spare so no immediate need...

It ought to be fixable electronically - it shows all the symptoms of a capacitor failing - random crashing that's worse when warm. Given the schematics are available I have no excuse for failing to fix it....

M.

Re: Another Chumby Classic passes...

Sad to see a chumby die.

I can give it a good home, if you're ready to part with it.

I also have a spare chumby motherboard that I can send you.
