Topic: "My Streams" under the Audio Button Now Makes Dash Go Dark

I can no longer stream my favorite internet stations for the last couple of weeks. I load a station as normal, it will stream for a few seconds normally and then my Dash screen goes completely dark. I have to restart it by unplugging it, then plugging it back in again to reboot. I go through the same routine and the same thing happens.

Anyone have a solution  to this new problem? My Streaming had worked perfectly ever since the Chumby conversion software was released and installed. Wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Does this also happen with other music sources (i.e. blue octy radio)?

Re: "My Streams" under the Audio Button Now Makes Dash Go Dark

Thanks for your question and trying to help out with my problem.

I tried Blue Octy Radio yesterday and it worked fine, never blanking out and going dark. So this morning, I tried one of "My Streams" again, and after a few seconds of playing the station, it went dark and I had to reboot. So then, I tried Shoutcast and listened for most of the day and it worked fine.

Then I had the idea to check for another URL for one of the two stations that shut the Dash down. I tried a new one I found and it worked after about a 15 second delay before starting to play, but it did not shut down the Dash. For another station that also caused a shutdown, I again, tried another URL that I found. It was an mP3 instead of one for an aac format that had worked previously. That one also worked fine and did not shut down my Dash.

I have no idea what the problem is/was, but my Dash seems to be working OK for now with "My Streams" as I have been listening for the last couple of hours with no shutdowns.

This sounds like there might be a bug in the Sony media player.

On chumby devices, the actual playback for streaming audio is done by an external media player.  On chumby and Infocast devices, it's handled by a player call BlueTune, but the dash uses a media player supplied by Sony.
